A couple in Kiambu have been left with more questions than answers after a dubious vaccine administered to their 2-month-old son at Kihara Health Centre led him to lose one arm and a leg.

The baby was delivered on February 7 2019 and discharged in a healthy condition but when the mother returned him to the health facility for BCG and polio immunisation, the baby started developing breathing difficulties and even refused to breastfeed.

It is then when the mother identified only as Waithira and her husband were referred to Kiambu Level 5 Hospital after the left hand and foot seemed numb.

At Kiambu, they were again referred to Kenyatta National Hospital where the doctors had to amputate the hand and foot after both limbs burst open after a month and a half of admission at the hospital.
