A 17 year old pupil at Ngage Primary School in Tigania East is nursing serious injury on his manhood after he was caned by a teacher in May.
It alleged that about 4 months ago, the boy was punished alongside other colleagues who failed to bring water that would be used on the classroom floor.
It is during the punishment that the teacher’s cane painfully hit his penis , leaving him unconscious.
“I had to be carried to the head teacher’s office where I spent hours regaining consciousness. After that, I was advised not to report to police the matter with the head teacher convincing me that all would be well. The teacher even promised to take me to hospital,” he said.
However, the use of painkillers proved futile and it is only early this month that the boy’s mother got to know of the same since the victim was having difficulties with urinating.
The mother now wants the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to intervene given corporal punishment is illegal in Kenya.
“I think they are punishing me because I’m poor. I know that corporal punishment is banned but even when disciplining a child, there are parts you don’t him,” she Decried
The matter has been reported at Mulika Police Station.
