Breaking: Ruto resigns

After many weeks, and indeed months of speculation on his political future amid frosty relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto has tendered his resignation letter.

In a letter addressed to President Kenyatta, the DP thanked the head of state for giving him opportunity to serve the country as Deputy President for 7 “memorable” years, adding that it’s time for him to “move on” as he feels that his services are no longer needed by the government.

Dr Ruto who has been walking on political eggshells has in the past alleged plot by the “System” to derail his political ambitions and deny him the presidency come the 2022 general election.

Powerful Uhuru allies have in the past insisted that the President will not be handing over power to a thief come 2022, in a statement that seems aimed at Dr Ruto.

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has on several occasions insisted that Dr Ruto will not even make it to the presidential ballot come the next poll.

There is no doubt that Ruto’s resignation marks the turning point in Kenya’s politics with slightly over 2 years remaining to the next general election.

Happy April Fool’s Day.
