The duo , identified as Pascaliano Odhiambo, 29, and Bonventure Ouma, 19, reportedly assaulted their elder brother named Juma on Wednesday, September 22, after beating their mother over delayed food.
According to a statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Odhiambo and Ouma responded to their mother’s distress call after Juma descended on her with blows and kicks when he was informed food was not ready.
“They responded to their mother’s screams only to find Juma assaulting her. They gave him a dog’s beating before they retired to bed,” part of the statement read. The former would however succumb to his injuries later that night
On Thursday, at around 6am, the concerned mother visited Juma’s house to check on him. She however found him dead, having succumbed to injuries inflicted by his brothers. The deceased who was lying on his doorstep had deep injuries on his head.
The mother alerted local authorities who visited the scene. Detectives recovered a machete, jembe, and a rungu believed to have been used by Ouma and Odhiambo to murder their sibling. The suspects were nabbed and detained at Bumala Police Station pending arraignment in court.
