The girl’s 28-year-old aunt Nathifa Mohamed, is among the four suspects. The girl had been missing for four days before her body was found on Saturday last week.
Police say that when the 14-year-old girl was callously murdered there were several men, women and children in the house.
“The girl is suspected to have been gang-raped and murdered in the house where she lived with her aunt Nathifa Mohamed in Eastleigh,” human rights activist Florence Kanyua is quoted by the Star as saying.
A neighbour to the girl’s house says that it is children in the apartment who noticed the smell and saw a decomposing body in the sitting room after which they went and informed them.
Neighbours say the girl has been living with the aunt and three other women.
The aunt, according to the Star, had removed the body for secret burial but the police intercepted the body at a South C mosque where it had been brought in an ambulance.
“The body was in an ambulance that we are still holding,” a detective said.
The suspects, according to the police, are of Somali origin while the murdered girl is a Kenyan.
