#DemathewFinalDayTribute: Here are the TWO songs John De’Mathew loved most from among his over 375 songs

John De’Mathew/Standard.

Before he met his untimely death on Sunday 8 August, 2019, the legendary Kikuyu Benga musician John De’ Mathew had recorded and released over 375 songs in 50 albums.

Since 1988 when De’Mathew released his musical breakthrough album and song ‘Peris Nduku’, the prolific musician has released one hit song after another every year until his demise less than a week ago.

As such, one unanswered question that could be in the minds of his fans and fanatics is, did De ‘Mathew have a favourite among his tens of hit songs? And the answer is Yes. His favourite songs were, PIN Number and ‘Muoyo Ti Kibandi’ (Life is not an ID card).

The PIN Number song basically talks of lousy women with a habit of poking their noses on their husband’s phones to find out whether they are cheating on them or not. And since a phone is a private and personal gadget, De’Mathew encourages use of PIN number to keep off snoopy and lousy partners.

On the other hand, ‘Muoyo Ti Kibandi’, tells of a cunning woman lover whom De’ Mathew once thought if he died, she would ask to be killed to be buried together with him in the same coffin for the love he assumed he had for him. He, however, come to realize sooner than later that the lady is a love trickster with no emotional connection to him.

De’ Mathew will be laid to rest on Saturday 23rd August, 2019 at his family home in Gatanga Sub-County, Murang’a County.
