Police officers from Chuka Station had to use teargas to disperse hundreds of women who staged protests in Chuka town to counter earlier demos where another group marched to Governor Muthomi Njuki office and discarded their inner wears over alleged disrespect to female gender.
Tens of women drawn from Chuka, Maara and Tharaka constituencies on Monday demanded an apology from the county boss for reportedly making derogatory remarks demeaning women claiming that he has been depicting them negatively in public.Last week, Njuki was reported to have negatively described Senator Kithure Kindiki likening his voice to that of a female, something that stirred a serious debate online.
It is believed that the county govt officers had organized todays demos as can be confirmed by one bodaboda operator who says they were promised fuel for their bikes.
Tharaka Nithi Bodaboda guys spills the beans, they had been promised a pay before going to demos in support of the governor.
