Mandatory quarantine for those who have tested positive

Kenyan Government through the ministry of Health has stated that everyone who tests positive must be under a compulsory quarantine. This comes after the number of confirmed cases rose to 38 .

“The Government  has instituted mandatory quarantine for those who have tested positive and their contacts because of the seriousness of the corona virus disease and its potential strain on our healthcare resources”,  urged Health CS Mutahi Kagwe.

Once one have been identified as a contact to a patient who has tested positive, the government shall send its officials to their house to be escorted to a quarantine facility.

“The purpose of mandatory quarantine is to have close monitoring of your well being so as to safeguard your health and that of your family and the country at large,” assured Health CS Mutahi Kagwe according to a twitter  statement.

By Saturday, the total number of close contacts who have been monitored stands at 1141. Out of this number, 163 have been discharged after completing the mandatory 14 day follow up period.

Nairobi Country is leading with 28 cases of those who have so far tested positive followed by Kilifi with six, Mombasa with two, while Kajiado and Kwale with one each. Out of the 38 positive cases, 21 are male while 16 are female.

The curfew will still continue with an aim of curbing the epidemic halting its spread.
