Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo has come out to defend Uasin Gishu Women representative Gladys Boss Sholei after photos of her with her Mzungu lover went viral on social media a few weeks after divorcing ex-husband Sam Sholei.
According to Millie, Gladys has the right to move on with her life after divorce. “I wish to state that they are not the first to divorce and will not be the last. In this age and time one can easily move on after divorce and remarry at any time and any age. Sam Sholei moved on one day after divorce. The speed depends on their ‘behind-the-door’ realities we are not privy to.”
She went ahead to say that there are going to be attempts to paint her negatively to spoil her chances of going forward because of her public nature.
“Do not let that worry you a bit. You are a good leader. Uasin Gishu will make the final decision about your leadership going forward. Should they not elect you, you are an excellent lawyer, you will rise like you have risen through the storm before,” said Millie Odhiambo.
Gladys and Sam Shollei who have been married for 20 years ended their marriage at the Milimani court on January 8.
While addressing the press in Eldoret on January 24, the women rep claimed that the photos were leaked by a person known to her but maintains that this will not stop her from serving the people of Uasin Gishu county.
“Recently I have been threatened with destruction of my character and image by a person known to me. I will however not respond to them or do the same to them because I was never raised to be evil,” said the vocal legislator.
She continued by saying that the photos doing rounds on social media do not portray improper conduct on her side.
“Those photographs out there reveal no improper conduct on my part and in terms of using them to destroy me, I believe no human being can destroy me unless my God wills it or if they are God, which they are not. No amount of smear campaign will deter me from serving Kenyans and the great people of Uasin Gishu County,” said Shollei.
She however said that she will not comment on that issue again as she does not want it to shift her focus from the work she is supposed to be doing for the people of Uasin Gishu.
