MERU GOVERNOR KIRAITU MURUNGI DEFENDS PRESIDENT UHURU AGAINST MT. KENYA POLITICIANS WHO ARE ACCUSING THE PRESIDENT FOR NEGLECTING THE REGION.
Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi has defended President Uhuru Kenyatta against some of Mt. Kenya politicians who are accusing the president by saying that he has neglected the region in terms of development.
Addressing the media in Meru, Kiraitu said it was very unfortunate that some of politicians from the region were accusing the president whereas he has done very many development project in the region.
The Meru governor said the president has done very many development project in Meru county and other counties in the region adding that already the president has given out Ksh. 900 million for Kinoru Stadium construction, ksh 900 million for Miraa farmers in the county, ksh 400 million debt waiver for milk farmers in Meru and that he (president) is supporting revival of coffee production in Mt. Kenya region.
Kiraitu said he was aware that the president has also instructed the CS for transport to fastruck the tarmacking of roads in all constituencies in Meru County and has also given money for water dams and pans construction in Meru County.
The Meru governor said with devolved governments it is for the governors to develop their counties adding that politics of grandstanding, opportunely rhetoric will not help Mt. Kenya region.
He said he would like as leaders from Mt. Kenya region to sit down and strategies on how to mobilize more resources from National government for the development of their counties.
Kiraitu said he supports the National dialogue being undertaken by building bridges initiative adding that he was the Chairman of Jubilee national coordinating committee which merged 13 political parties to create Jubilee party, and that they made many efforts and sacrifices to achieve the dream of creating a formidable political party which was aimed at uniting all Kenyans.
He said he was so sad to see the efforts and sacrifices they made going up in smoke and pleaded with Jubilee party leaders not to allow the party to be destroyed by selfish politicians.
Kiraitu urged Jubilee leaders to come together and reason together adding that there is need to return Jubilee party into its original dream.
