Nyali Member of Parliament (MP) Mohammed Ali has asked Deputy President William Ruto to intervene over the economic spoils caused by the SGR in Mombasa.

The former investigative journalist revealed that the project, launched in May, 2017 had caused high unemployment levels, especially to those in the transport business.

“Mimi nataka kumwambia naibu wa rais ya kwamba iko mamluki amechukua SGR, amemaliza wananchi hapa,” said Moha.

(I want to tell the deputy president that a powerful man has seized the SGR, he has finished our people)

Moha aired the grievances of the people dependent on transportation whom the railway project has proved more harm than good to them.

He added: “Naibu wa rais, hawa watu ni watu ambao hawana ajira, wengi wao wanategemea ajira ya transportation..kwa hivyo ukirudi Nairobi ukipangapanga ile karata yako, panga hawa watu tafadhali.”

This loosely translates to: ” Deputy President, most of these people are unemployed and depend on the transport industry, when you get to Nairobi please look into their plights.”

Moha was speaking in Mombasa county where he was accompanied by the country’s second in command.

Words in the streets have it that the duo are currently political comrades, working to get a share of the coastal political aptitude.
