Raila breaks silence; sends powerful message to Kenyans over Coronavirus

by Jeff Murunga

As the world continues to grapple with the Coronavirus pandemic, ODM leader Raila Odinga has broken his silence over the deadly disease and asked Kenyans to follow government directives to contain the spread of Covid-19.

In a video message, the former Prime Minister asked the citizens to avoid taking the disease jokingly, saying that the over 16,000 deaths that have so far been recorded globally is enough confirmation that Covid-19 should be taken seriously.

According to Raila, Kenyans should do six precautionary measures in a bid to combat the disease.

Raila asked Kenyans to maintain hygiene by washing hands, avoid crowding, stay at home, avoid weddings and funerals and social distancing.

Raila’s comment comes at a time the government has confirmed 25 Coronavirus cases in the country amid very strict measures that have been put in place to minimize the number of new infections.

So far, Italy has recorded the highest number of deaths at 6820, overtaking China, where the disease started.
