The highly publicised and much anticipated yet to be launched Kimeru radio giant “Getu FM” is now a property of the 2nd most powerful leader in Kenya Deputy President William Ruto.
Magical Kenya news is privy to information that the political giant who allegedly own a huge chunk of Mediamax networks ltd shares, through his operatives sealed the Getu FM deal last night at a city hotel, after a series of meetings with previous owners.
The informer however assured us that the transition will neither affect the current station management nor the ongoing recruitment exercise.
Already Getu FM is rolling on 87.6 FM in Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Isiolo, Embu, Marsabit and Kitui counties with Nairobi frequency expected to be ready soon.Ruto has over the years invested in media which is seen as a strategy to hype his presidential bid come 2022.This is one area that Raila Odinga failed terribly being that to date he doesn’t have any media and he can be given blackout anytime. With Ruto keen to clinch the presidency, this a well calculated move that will definitely endear him to his supporters as he can call for live coverage anytime as opposed to Raila who has to pay for live coverage.
Ruto brought in Former Kass FM journalist Sang who is said to be the most influential Kalenjin journalist at Emoo FM
in a bid to keep Kalenjin votes in the same basket.
We wish Getu FM and the management all the best.
