Pressure is mounting on Deputy President William Ruto to step aside over his alleged involvement in the fake Sh.39 billion military tender involving former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa.

Over the last few days, the DP has been on the receiving end amid claims that he could be privy to the deals involving Echesa and a Polish arms company.

While calling for the DP’s immediate resignation, former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando said should Ruto fail to step aside, he will organize a major demonstration followed by a public rally at Uhuru Park to pile pressure on Kenya’s number two to relinquish his seat and pave way for investigations.

” While the country can await for actions by the DCI, EACC, the DPP on all other graft matters, the new arms scanda is a major security threat. The DP’s office is now a crime scene,” the vocal politician said as quoted by the Star.

Ruto has repeatedly denied his involvement in the deal that saw Echesa arrested before being released on a cash bail.
