Barely minutes after his address to the nation, Deputy President William Ruto has found himself on the receiving end with Kenyans now taking him on social media.
It was the DP’s first national address since the first Coronavirus case was confirmed in the country.
Amid questions being asked on Dr Ruto’s whereabouts having escaped all President Uhuru Kenyatta’s frequent briefs to the nation, the DP finally emerged on Thursday to speak to Kenyans. However, the address has landed him in deep trouble.
To many, Ruto said ” a lot of nothing” during his national address.
“Finally William Ruto resurfaces today to address the nation. Never seen a Deputy Commander in chief who hides during a national crisis. He should better have enough reasons for disappearing, hiding and abdicating duty at the time of a national crisis while drawing salary,” said blogger Lord Mutai.
” An empty and distasteful speech from a man who has stolen everything from the Government coffers. I expected DP William Ruto to surrender part of the loot towards the fight against COVID-19,” said Duncan Makori on his Twitter handle.
Whatever the DP intended to achieve during his address seems to have backfired.
