Deputy President William Ruto has yet again told off the Building Bridges Initiative plan to bring forth a referendum that will create more electoral positions.

Ruto was speaking in Nzombe, Kitui county where he said that it is selfish of leaders to think about their positions at the expense of 45 million Kenyans.

“Please let us spare this nation the politics of self, and politics of positions..Kenya does not belong to us leaders alone, it also belongs to 45 million Kenyans who want their issues addressed,” he said.

The country’s second in command further reiterated his opinion that after elections, leaders should embark in solving residents’ problems.

“..after elections we must transit and begin the agenda of the people, their roads, their water, their electricity connection..that is how we are going to take the country forward,” he added.

Ruto saw a youth empowerment programme in Kitui and inspected the progress of construction of Kitui East Technical Training Institute which he was optimistic will equip the youths with necessary skills for self reliance.

His walk to State House is currently facing a big hurdle thanks to the ‘handshake’ that brought in ODM leader Raila Odinga who has complicated Ruto’s bid.

Currently, the DP’s allies under the pact dubbed ‘Tangatanga’ are standing firm to defend him against another group labelled ‘Kieleweke’.
