Irate Nauchi village residents in Kibiru location of Tigania West Constituency on Saturday were up in arms over the pathetic state of the road linking Ngundune market to Isiolo Town.
By MAGICAL KENYA COUNTY REPORTER
The residents have termed the road as a ‘major threat to passersby especially children’ during rainy seasons due to the dangerous raging floods.
According to a renowned area resident, Eliud Ntoiti, the residents say that the road has continuously been discriminated by successive administrations which promise ‘heaven and achieve zero’ in regards to the maintenance of roads within the constituency.
“I blame the condition of this road to our MP John Mutunga who has failed to honour his promise that the road would be fixed during his first year in office. Our own children have been missing classes whenever it rains for fear of being swept away by floods since there is no bridge to help them cross,” lamented Ntoiti.
Mark Mururu, a village elder, echoed Ntoiti’s sentiments saying that the villagers can only use donkeys to ferry their farm produce to Kianjai and Isiolo markets.
“Even the donkeys strain a lot at some sections of the road. It is this worse. Since Mutunga is not helping us, we have decided to take it upon ourselves today to repair this road to at least enable our donkeys use the road with ease,” said Mururu.
