There is this notorious word men use to call Kenyan women. And it’s annoying according to the confessions made on twitter the other day . Several women took to the platform indicating that it did not make them feel beautiful as intended by men .
Even former Taita Taveta woman representative Joyce Lay made it known that it’s a disgusting habit that should stop.
She wrote “It so sad that you hear this word coming from Civil Servants….people holding public office. It’s disgusting! I fought this “mrembo” and many sexual harassments in Parliament, more than anywhere else. It’s even a shame when I reported, the case was thrown out. This is violence”
More comments urging men to stop elicited mixed reaction from those that engaged on the thread.
Madam boss it’s not a violence it’s the love that people have for you please just accept it Si kwa ubaya. that’s love
Madam CAS, accept that not everyone who wish to address you knows or remembers your name or other titles, so what comes to the mind is the obvious mrembo. Please accept the compliment with a smile
Mrembo is a compliment. It never means to underscore who you are. Unless you’re viewing it from another perspective. Come on CAS.
I’m with you 100%
Well looks like it’s high time men up their flirt game coz this sure ain’t working .
