The government has declared Tuesday, February 11, 2020 as a public holiday in honour of the late former President Daniel arap Moi.
Joseph Kinyua, Head of Public Service made the announcement on Thursday saying the day has been set aside to allow Kenyans to mourn the late president Moi.
“To enable every Kenyan participate in the celebration of the life of President Moi, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior, on the recommendation of this Steering Committee, has declared Tuesday, February 11, 2020, a Public Holiday of general observance throughout the Republic of Kenya,” said Kinyua.
The family and the funeral committee have said that public viewing of Moi’s body at Parliament Buildings will be done for three days, Saturday, Sunday and Monday between 8.00 am to 5.00 am.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to lead the Country on Saturday in viewing of the body at Parliament Buildings.
President Kenyatta had on February 4, ordered the flag of Kenya to be flown half-mast after the death on the former president.
