Two people have been killed and over three hundred houses turned into ashes, after a fire broke out in Mlango Kubwa area, in Mathare Constituency.
The fire, as reported by Citizen TV occurred in the wee hours of Friday, October 8, causing massive destruction of property to the residents in the area.
The onlookers speculate there could be more bodies buried in the remains of the fire, and a search is still ongoing.
According to the residents who came out to try put out the flames, their biggest challenge was lack of water, leading to the fire spreading more.
The biggest challenge they faced in the process according to Maina,
Maina said Pangani police station offices had visited the scene, and began their investigations into the cause of the fire.
Another resident spoke to the government, asking for aid, following the number of people now homeless as a result of the fire.
Naweza omba serikali, ikuje itusaidie sababu hawa ni watu wengi, at least wapewe hata chakula, juu watu wengi hawana makao.
The sympathising man added that of importance too, is that the government comes in and looks at the children, whose uniforms were caught in the flames, yet they await to resume school this coming week.
