Uhuru’s speech lands him in deep trouble

by Jeff Murunga

Kenyan-Canadian lawyer Miguna Miguna has taken a swipe at President Uhuru Kenyatta following his Wednesday speech to the country over Coronavirus pandemic.

In his speech, President Kenyatta announced some measures that his government has put in place to cushion Kenyans at the time the world is grappling with Covid-19.

President Kenyatta led by example by slashing his salary by 80 per cent. Besides that, he gave a 100 per cent personal relief to all low income earners.

However, Dr Miguna was not moved by the President’s move even as he immediately fired back, accusing him of hypocrisy.

Dr Miguna wondered where the jobless youths had been left in the President’s announcement.

” It is ridiculous for Despot Uhuru Kenyatta to tell the umemployed and others to stay at home that their income tax will be reduced. Kenyans need food, clean drinking water, soap sanitizers,” he tweeted.
