Video: Why Kabogo was forced to climb mortuary gate during De’Mathew’s final journey

Musician John DeMathew. He died in a road crash on August 18, 2019 in Thika town/NMG.

Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo was forced to climb the Kenyatta University Mortuary gate on Saturday morning to calm down John De’Mathew’s fans who had gathered outside the mortuary’s gate.

In a video posted on YouTube, the charged crowd wanted to pay its last respect to the Kikuyu Benga maestro who passed away last Sunday at a road accident near Bluepost Hotel, Thika.

Kabogo had to assure the crowd that it will be given time to pay their last respect to the late Benga musician something that delayed De’Mathew’s final journey by about two hours after which the body was taken to Githambia Primary School in Gatanga for interment.

During the burial ceremony, De’Mathew was hailed as a great family man. His children described him as an outstanding father.

“Thank you for showing us what it means to be a good man, a great musician, an extraordinary husband, and an outstanding father,” DeMathew’s children described him as reported earlier by MKN.
