“WE ATE RATS TO SURVIVE,” SAYS JALANG’O!

By: Sharon Gathiru

Felix Odiwour popularly known as Jalang’o is one of the comedians who have risen from grass to grace. Jalang’o and Otoyo have been buddies for the longest time and during his show on Milele FM,Jalango explains how he and his friend survived on rats.

“We ate rats together with Otoyo when we were hungry. You know when you have to eat a rat,it means you are desperate and tried everything in vain. A rat is the last food anyone can think of eating,” he said.

He talks of how he (Jalang’o) and Otoyo used to live together and would hang around the Kenya National Theatre to hunt for gigs. He says that is the reason why their bond is tight and will remain so as long as they breathe.

One would say that it is what the Milele FM presenter went through that made him have such a noble heart as he with the help of Akothee, governor Joho, Jared Otieno and Trippy go tours were able to raise Ksh: 212,000 for school fees of a needy student.

The student, Levin Rabah was admitted at Kanga High School and reported to school with two bar soaps.Quickmart Supermarket also came through for him as they offered him shopping for a whole term.

“I want to thank everyone who contributed through the school’s pay bill number.I want to send personal thank you to Joho_001,Big thank you to Quickmart Kenya,Trippygotours,Akotheekenya,Boss Jared Otieno who all came in handy to ensure this journey is complete,” he wrote in an instagram post.

Jalang’o is also helping raise funds for 8months old Andy Murithi who was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy and has been in Getrudes Hospital Muthaiga since October 2019 where the bill is at 12 million plus.

“So far we have been able to raise more than 300k for baby Andy. We will achieve more! Together we will do more!” Read his post.
