Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal was on Tuesday morning arrested by EACC officers over alleged misappropriation county funds amounting to over Ksh84M.

Among the charges Governor Lenolkulal is facing include abuse of office, conflict of interest and misuse of public funds.

The magistrates court released him on a cash bail amounting to Sh100M or a bond of Sh150M but appealed the bail arguing that the bail was way too high and punitive.

On Wednesday, the High Court reduced the bail to Ksh.30M bond or a cash bail of 10M.

“The court will reduce the accused’s bail terms to Sh10 million cash bail or Sh30 million bond. At any rate, given the nature and circumstances of the case and the penalty provided in law, it is my view that the bond terms imposed on the applicants are excessive,” Judge Mumbi Ngugi said.
